Stu,
	UPS 3.33 generally works for gcc 2.8.0, though you have obviously
found a problem, and it could be templates. You might try setting the env
variable VERBOSE to 1 and start UPS. It should print out a list of libraries
it is scanning. Then put a "noload" in a ~/.upsinit file for the
library that caused the crash. This may provide a workaround.
